Urgent Safety Recall: Werner Multi-Max Pro Ladders

On August 14, 2025, Werner Co., with the backing of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), officially recalled over 122,000 of its 20- and 24-foot Multi-Max Pro multi-purpose ladders—model numbers ALMP-20IAA and ALMP-24IAA. These silver ladders, characterized by a blue top, blue “MULTI MAX PRO” label, and a long black rope, were sold at Home Depot stores and online from November 2021 to February 2024, typically priced between $200–$281.

Why the recall? The ladders exhibit a defective locking mechanism that can jam or fail to lock fully, creating a serious fall risk. There have been 18 reported incidents, with 14 resulting in injuries ranging from bruises and lacerations to head injuries and fractures AP NewsU.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

What Consumers Should Do:

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled ladders.
  2. Visit wernerco.com/recalls to register for a full refund. Werner will provide instructions on safe disposal and then issue a refund via check after disposal.
